Liam: Pointing at a Terry Fox poster "We're going to run on Friday at school."
Mommy: "That's cool. Do you know what happened to his leg?"
Liam: "He had a disease in his leg. It is called cancer. So they chopped his leg off."
Mommy: "That's right. Cancer is what Grandma had. That's why she died."
Liam: "Why didnt they chop her leg off too so she stays alive?"
Mommy: "Oh, cancer doesn't always happen in the leg. It can be anywhere. Grandma had cancer in her lungs. Terry Fox later died from cancer that spreaded to his lungs."
Liam: *thinking* "Oh... you can't chop lungs off right? You need lungs to breath."
Mommy: "That's right. There wasn't anything we could do to help Grandma get better."
Liam: "When I run on Friday, I know Grandma will be running with me."
