Mom/Son Business

November 2008

Liam: "Why did I throw up?"
Mommy: "I don't know. Sometimes when you are sick, you throw up... sometimes it helps."
Liam: "But I have never threw up that much in my life!"
Mommy: "I know! Guess who had to clean them all up!?!?"
Liam: *Grinning* "But I don't like it. My throat now hurts."
Mommy: "Throwing up burns your throat. If I was a magic doctor, I would make you all better instantly."
Liam: "Why didn't you become a doctor when you went to college?"
Mommy: "Uh no, that would take forever! Maybe 10 years of schooling."
Liam: "Wow that's long! Maybe it is not a good idea too... many people won't understand you."

Few days later...
Liam: "Will I pass grade 2 this year?"
Mommy: "You will if you continue to do good in school."
Liam: "But I am tired of school. It is boring sometimes!"
Mommy: "You have to continue going to school whether you like it or not. You need to continue to learn and go to college too to have a good job in the future."
Liam: "How many years of school do I have left?
Mommy: "6 years of elementary then 4 years in high school. 10 years. Then college - it could be 2 or 5 or 10 years. Depending on what you want to study."
Liam: "I have a great idea! Why don't you start school to become a doctor now. By the time you are done in 10 years, I will be done with high school then I can interpret for you!"
